Golf Royal Colombo

The Royal Colombo Golf Club in Sri Lanka is one of the oldest golf courses in Asia. In 1879, a handful of intrepid British expatriates decided to introduce the popular sport of golf to a small British colony called Ceylon. A former farm was officially transformed into the Colombo Golf Club in July 1896. His Majesty King George V granted the club the privilege of using the title ‘Royal’ in 1928, and so the Colombo Golf Club became known as the Royal Colombo Golf Club. The course is varied, with mature trees, challenging water hazards and well-placed bunkers. The fairways and greens are very well maintained and partly bordered by an old railway line. During your golf trip to Sri Lanka, you should not miss out on playing this interesting golf course on the outskirts of Colombo.
